7 Highlights of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500
1. MultiPro Tailgate
GMC’s MultiPro Tailgate offers six configurations that simplify loading and unloading. You can fold down its inner gate into a step capable of holding up to 375 lbs, or you can change its position to use it as a work surface. It also functions as a load-stop to prevent items in the bed from sliding around.
The MultiPro Tailgate is an available option on the Sierra 1500 Pro, SLE, and Elevation models, but it’s a standard feature on the higher trim levels.
2. Powerful Engine Options
The base model Sierra 1500 comes with a TurboMax engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft of torque. A 5.3L V8 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission is also available. The higher trim levels have two other engine options: a Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel and a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8.
3. Over a Dozen Camera Views
With 14 cameras showing the area surrounding the truck, the Sierra 1500 makes it easy for you to back up trailers and squeeze in and out of tight parking spaces. The rear trailer view also displays an indicator showing the trailer’s angle.
4. Ample Storage Space
In addition to its surplus of legroom, the Sierra 1500 offers two spacious glove boxes. The base model has options for rear under-seat storage and a center console storage unit, while the higher trim levels have the option of storage behind the rear seats.
5. Robust Safety Features
A full suite of safety features comes standard on all the Sierra 1500 models. The Lane Keep Assist functionality alerts you if you start veering out of your lane, while Automatic Emergency Braking will help prevent a collision if it detects you’re approaching an object too quickly at speeds below 50 mph. Other safety features include:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Following Distance Indicator
- Front Pedestrian Braking
6. Enhanced Towing Capabilities
The base model Sierra 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 lbs, while the 5.3L gas engine maxes out at 11,200 lbs. The 6.2L V8 engine and the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel have maximum towing capacities of 13,000 lbs and 13,200 lbs, respectively.
7. Advanced Technology and Infotainment
The new Sierra 1500 offers over 40 inches of digital displays showing everything from media and climate control settings to navigation and standard vehicle information. While the base model doesn’t include the latest infotainment system, it does have the option for a 15-inch diagonal head-up display.
